Description
This thing is ok and designed well as a top handle, but it loses contact with the gimbal all the time under any small amount of stress which causes the joystick to no longer work, even if it still has power from the gimbal. The only way I can find to fix this is to completely power the whole system off then autotune again, This doesn’t really matter though because as soon as you pick the gimbal up again from the handle the joystick just ceases to work anymore. So save some money and just get yourself a non-powered tophandle, becuase this is basically what this is.
Good so far. Works out of the box and seems sturdy. Got an extra Y fork just in case.
Thank you for the feedback!
The handle itself works great, and it’s perfect for those low angles.
Pros:
– High quality.
– Dual nato lock makes it super secure, feels very safe to hold it by just the handle.
– Smooth joystick.
– Decent mounting options for other gear.
Cons:
– Focus dial/ wheel is pretty sensitive with nucleus nano.
– Only one nato rail on left side, no nato rail on right side.
– The nato rail on the left side is basically useless for use with a side handle. The small rail is held in place by just 1 screw (it comes un-attached in the box), and the back of the rail has a small square extruding out to supposedly stop the rail from twisting. But sadly to little success.
Even when tightened to the max with the supplied allen wrench stripping the screw, with a side handle attached, it will start twisting with just a small amount of force. Bending the small extruding square (looks like pretty soft metal).
My nato mount was worn and unusable after 1 test use, sadly. Highly recommend getting the Tilta RS3 baseplate, which has two solid nato rails that don’t slip!
Conclusion and idea’s:
Overall great quality Tilta product again, having a better nato rail side mount would improve this design a lot more. Having one of those nato rails on the right side would be great too!
The extension arm is very useful and sensitive to operate, I really liked it as an accessory for my Ronin.
Made to the highest standards! Super stable! Lighter than it looks. Turns my DjI RS3 Pro into a beast for flexibility in shooting from below waist all the way to the ground!
