Putting the Adapter to the Test
Participants had the opportunity to pair the Nucleus E-PL Autofocus Adapter with the Sony FX3 and Sony FX6, combined with the legendary Cooke Varotal 18–100mm vintage zoom lens from Cooke Optics.
The testing environment was intentionally hands-on and practical. Attendees explored:
-
Spherical and anamorphic setups
-
Gimbal configurations
-
Handheld shooting scenarios
-
Dynamic focus transitions across varying focal lengths
The goal was simple: evaluate real-world autofocus performance with classic cinema glass. The results sparked detailed technical discussions around responsiveness, accuracy, and workflow integration for modern productions.

A Community-Driven Atmosphere
Beyond the gear, the event reflected what filmmaking culture is all about — exchange, experimentation, and shared passion. Framed by sunny spring weather, relaxed Friday vibes, and veggie hot dogs, the atmosphere encouraged in-depth conversations about lenses, camera movement, and evolving production tools.
Special thanks go to the team at CineOne, particularly Dvinh Vu and Jojo Blenke, for preparing and fine-tuning the testing setups to ensure a seamless experience for all participants.
