Introducing the 15mm LWS Arca Manfrotto Dual Baseplate, the perfect multi-functional baseplate for filmmakers who regularly utilize both Manfrotto and Arca connection types.
Similar to our other support systems, this baseplate serves as a stable foundation for your camera system, allowing you to expand your rig by mounting rod-based accessories like follow focus motors or matte boxes.
The new dual purpose design features an Arca Receiver based on DJI’s standard, allowing users to quickly switch between a Ronin S Series Gimbal and this baseplate.
The baseplate also features a Manfrotto Receiver, which is ideal for switching between a tripod and other Manfrotto based support systems such as our Tilta Float Handheld Support System.
This Manfrotto Receiver features a new “Snap In” Design, which allows users to snap the Manfrotto Plate into the receiver as opposed to more traditional sliding mechanisms.
This results in the same secure connection, but it is now much faster to attach or remove, specifically helpful in situations that require instant transitions from tripods to handheld, such as Reality Shows or Documentaries.
The baseplate is natively compatible with Tilta Standard Dovetails and can be mounted to a wide range of support systems through 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threads on the bottom of both the baseplate and our dovetails.
The Baseplate Kit includes a Dual Manfrotto/Arca Quick Release Plate.
Compatibility with 3rd Party ARCA and Manfrotto Quick Release Plates is not guaranteed.
This is great. It’s practically an answer to my wish list of things I’m constantly trying to Magyver out of other rigs. I always keep Arca plates perpendicular to the lens on all my cameras, but then use Manfrotto tripods with Arca adapters. This is great because it works with my system I already have in place, but also gives me an easy way to swap to other cameras that aren’t using my system. I also love the dual plate, which I leave in Arca configuration all the time, but know that I’ll always have the Manfrotto option in an emergency situation where I’m down a Manfrotto plate.
The locks are good, the build is good.
I have two minor complaints:
1. I wish they would make these compatible with actual Arca plates, not just the DJI ones. That said, the description was clear and I knew what I was in for. It works with DJI plates, Smallrig’s version of the DJI plate, and of course Tilta’s included plate. All of which work fine with my other actual Arca stuff.
2 the Tilta dual plate has to be attached to the camera with hex key screws. There’s very limited space so I can see why they did it, I’m still giving it 5 stars, but it’s important to know you can’t pop the plate off the camera with a coin if you find yourself without the proper tool.
