This Docking Station for the Tilta Float System is an all in one solution for securing your Float System when not in use.
This Docking Station connects via a Baby Pin connection and allows you to secure your Float’s Post, Vest and Arm all on the same bracket.
This allows you to keep your system ready to go without needing you to wear the system or pack it back in the case.
The adjustable design allows you to easily adjust the center of gravity, ensuring the Docking Station stays balanced on your stand.
Better than other docks out there, as it’s the only one specifically for float, but a few glaring faults. First off, no baby pin nor a single 3/8″ threaded hole, so no way to add a baby pin to top of dock. Lots of 1/4″-20, so initially I thought I could just drill and tap one to 3/8″ but unfortunately they milled so much material away, this is not an option. Second, the baby-pin receiver is half-height – why? You’re putting a lot of cantilevered weight on this thing and they give you a half-height baby receiver with no option to use receiver as a junior pin in a heavier duty stand. Unfortunately, just like my Float, (and my Nucleus and my Tilta mech follow focus) I’m going to have to modify this to function the way I need it to. I really wish Tilta would further test their products before finalizing their designs. Talk to anyone on set about Tilta, and the story is often the same – they come so close to being perfect but fall short more often than not. They offer a lot for very little money, but just wish there was more input from camera crew who work regularly on productions. Keeping my dock, and have already begun to remedy the shortcomings, though again, they milled this thing so much to be lightweight, that there is really little one can do to customize it.
