This 4×5.65 carbon fiber matte box is designed to clamp directly onto standard sized cinema lenses in order to be as lightweight and unobtrusive as possible.
It includes a single lens adapter ring to fit the front diameter of your choice.
Additional sized backings can be purchased separately. We also offer a full kit with multiple backings
These adapter rings not only allow the matte box to directly attach to the lens, but it forgoes the need for lens donuts.
Included in the package is one top French flag to provide flare protection.
It also includes an 15mm rod attachment if you wish to mount the matte box via LWS rods.
I mostly get gear from rental houses for jobs, but was looking for a MB for small personal projects. I¡¯d say the construction is on par with an Arri LMB, only limitation is the lens backs are slower to switch out and it¡¯s probably a tad heavier.
This is significantly better then any Bright Tangerine MB I¡¯ve used for a fraction of the cost.
I¡¯ve been using this matte box for the past 4 years. The quality is great, lightweight and has the ability to be used with a wide variety of cinema lenses. Now that I purchased another camera, it only makes sense to pair both cameras with a great Matt box.
It is very comfortable to use with out any difficulties and made my job easy. It added descent look to my Red komado. I am very happy. Thanks to Tilta.
Most people will tell you that you only need a matte box to look more professional and charge more. Others will tell you that it’s necessary and to go with Polar Pro. Both statements are kinda trash. Matte boxes give you additional control over how light affects you image like flares and hazing. The best thing about them is the filter choice. Enter Tilta’s matte box solution. It clamps on, it’s lightweight, it’s got 3 stages for rotating polarizers, NDs, hot mirrors or IR Cut filters, diopters and more. It’s a major leap above Polar Pro and if you want variable ND, you can just get a rotating polarizer and a 4×5.65 CP filter and stack them – that’s how VNDs are made. This is the best bang for the buck and the next best option is almost 6 grand from Arri. Tilta has outdone themselves with this!
